On Monday , March 20, 2017 The Pine Level Lions Club hosted around 100 people for our 55th Annual Pine Level Elementary School Faculty & Staff Banquet. The Faculty Night Banquet has been held each year since 1962.
In addition to showing our great appreciation to the faculty and staff of The Pine Level Elementary School, we noted this was the 100th year of Lions Club International. Also this year, the elementary school name was changed to The Pine Level Elementary School and the mascot once again became “The Green Hornet”.
Mr. Todd Sutton spoke about the importance of community schools, thanked the faculty and staff for their hard work and devotion to the school and especially thanked The Pine Level Lions Club for hosting this event.
A special presentation was made to Mrs. Hilda Overbee, widow of Lion James Overbee, of his vest which was framed and will be placed in the Pine Level Lions Den.
Special entertainment was provided by “Hope for Us” a singing group from Clayton, NC and lead by Mr. Rudy Oliver who was born and raised in Pine Level. He noted that he graduated from Pine Level High School in 1962.
Cyn-Mar Greenhouse in Pine Level donated the flowers for the tables.
Mr. Rusty Jones of Pine Level prepared the steaks on his professional cooking rig “The Flying Pig BBQ”.
