 Erwin Lions Club

Earl was born 1947 in the small mill town of Erwin, NC. Married to Jane for 56 years they are proud parents of three wonderful children and grandparents to five.

Earl retired as Sales and Marketing Manager for Textron Corporation with 35 years in various sales roles. After retiring he took a year off spending time sailing from home port of Oriental, NC in and around the coast of NC before going back to work. As president of HSA Inc., he spent the next four years building a sales and marketing company on the East and West Coast.

He finally decided to retire, this time for good. He moved from Raleigh back to hometown of Erwin where he was soon asked to join the Erwin Lions Club. He has served as Vice President, President, LCIF Chair, Club Administrator, Scholarship Co-Chair and at the district level Zone 5 Chair. He was elected in January of 2025 as Second Vice District Governor. He looks forward to being part of change and growth for lions in N.C. while preserving and celebrating our wonderful history.

Second Vice District Governor Kevin Toman

Shallotte Lions Club

Second Vice District Governor Kevin Toman is a dedicated member of the Shallotte Lions Club and District 31-N. During his years of service, he has held numerous leadership positions, including four years as Club President and three and a half years as Zone Chair. Through these roles, Kevin has worked to strengthen clubs, encourage membership, support community service projects, and advance the mission of Lions Clubs International.

In addition to his current position, he has served as the District LCIF Coordinator and LEO Coordinator. As LCIF Coordinator, he works with clubs throughout the district to promote the humanitarian mission of Lions Clubs International Foundation, encourage charitable giving, and celebrate the impact Lions make locally and around the world. As LEO Coordinator, he is committed to developing the next generation of service-minded leaders by strengthening connections among Lions clubs, schools, and young people.

Kevin brings more than 26 years of experience in public education to his Lions leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English Language Arts Education from East Stroudsburg University and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He currently teaches English at Columbus Career and College Academy, where his educational philosophy is centered on rigor, relevance, and relationships.

In addition to his work in education and Lions service, Kevin is active throughout southeastern North Carolina as a play-by-play broadcaster and public-address announcer for local high school and college athletics. He also serves on the Southeastern Community College Audio/Video Production Advisory Board and enjoys supporting students interested in broadcasting, communication, and media production.

Kevin is also an author who is working toward publishing both educational nonfiction and fiction. His writing reflects his extensive experience in education, leadership, and the relationships that shape the lives of teachers and students.

Kevin is married to his wife, Diane. When he is not teaching, writing, broadcasting, or serving through Lions, he enjoys spending time with his family, supporting local athletics, participating in church activities, and finding new opportunities to make a difference in his community. He believes that leadership is not defined simply by a title, but by a willingness to serve others, develop future leaders, and leave every organization stronger than he found it.
